If you’ve heard whispers about Constellations Therapy and felt curious—but a little unsure what it actually involves—you’re not alone. This powerful, heart-centred approach to healing can feel a bit mysterious at first. So, let’s demystify it together.
“When you heal the root, the branches no longer need to break.” – Family Constellations wisdom
What Is Constellations Therapy?
Constellations Therapy (also known as Family or Systemic Constellations) is a unique form of therapy that explores how our current struggles may be linked to unresolved experiences in our family system—often passed down unconsciously through generations.
These hidden patterns can influence our emotions, behaviours, relationships, and even physical health. Constellations Therapy helps bring these dynamics into the open, so they can be acknowledged, understood, and gently transformed.

What Happens in a Session?
You don’t need to know your whole family history or come with a clear problem. Just bring an issue or feeling that you’re finding hard to shift—like anxiety, relationship tension, feeling stuck, or even physical symptoms.
In a session (either one-to-one or in a group), your therapist will help you set up a “constellation”—a visual and spatial representation of your inner system. This might involve using people, objects, or markers to represent key family members or aspects of the issue.
As the constellation unfolds, patterns often become visible. Emotions surface. Roles and responsibilities shift. What was hidden starts to come into the light—and with it, the possibility for healing.
Do I Need to Believe in Anything?
No spiritual belief is required. While the process may feel intuitive or even profound, it’s grounded in principles of psychology, systems thinking, and trauma-informed care. Think of it as a way to access the body’s and mind’s inner wisdom, beyond words and logic.
What Can It Help With?
Constellations Therapy can support a wide range of issues, including:
- Relationship struggles
- Anxiety, depression, and low self-worth
- Grief and loss
- Feeling “stuck” or disconnected
- Family conflict
- Chronic stress or fatigue
Many people say it feels like finding the missing piece of a puzzle they didn’t know existed.
